My Top 10 Films

Hey everyone! Good to be putting up a post again, happy new year to one and all.

Here's a little post to kick start the year telling you my favourite films. Here's a top 10 list:

10. Rocky Series
Apart from Rocky V, this film series is awesome. Sly Stallone plays the role of Rocky Balboa, a boxer who lives in Philadelphia. Rocky I kicks the story off well, with Rocky, this nobody club fighter given once in a lifetime shot at the title by the heavy weight champion Apollo Creed on thanks giving. This kick starts his career and he goes on to awesome things, of the six, Rocky IV is my favourite!

9. The Die Hard Series
I know that this is four films, not one, but in my eyes the four films are one film, just split into four hundred minute odd long chunks of action and awesomeness. Die Hard one was the first one I watched, I found it pretty incredible, being a young kid at the time it got me hyped and excited. Die Hard two matched it, completely different story, but a great film. Number three was also good, playing in some of the story of Die Hard one, and Die Hard four which Bruce Willis released in 2007 was another great film which took advantage of the technology available which they didn't have in the first three films. Die Hard five is said to be out in February, can't wait to go see it!

8. 12 Angry Men
Voted at number six or seven on the IMDB top 250 of all times, 12 Angry Men is a weird, but pretty incredible film. The whole entire film (except for a couple of minutes at the start), is set in one room. Twelve men (the jury) try and decide whether a young boy is guilty of murder, eleven don't even hesitate to say he is, but there's one man of the twelve who said he wasn't guilty  and the whole film is basically the one man trying to convince the other eleven men that he's innocent, the whole film is on youtube. (Make sure you watch the original and not the crappy remake). Go check it out!

7. The Rambo Series
John Rambo, to me, is a flipping legend. Stallone is a genius and these films were fantastic. My favourite has to be the first one, but the others are all great, Rambo two was probably the worst but you can all be the judge of that, these films were one of the many film highlights of my childhood.

6. Gran Torino
Clint Eastwood at his usual best, this film almost made me cry. One of the best films ever made in my opinion, a story that was told beautifully and Clint really makes you understand the relationship between his character and his Chinese neighbours. My dad even said this film was fantastic and he's often one to say things are just "alright".

5. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
This film is PRICELESS. If you haven't seen it then I don't know why you are sitting reading this, this film is the boss. I love it the story so much, it moved me in a way I'll admit, but it didn't make me cry, honest! But seriously, I really recommend you watch this, I'm sure you'll be left satisfied with the sheer immensity of this film.

4. Shawshank Redemption
Voted as the best film of all time by IMDB, Shawshank Redmption certainly deserves it, it's a great film with loads of twists and clever side stories. Only number four on my list but it's many people's favourite and I would happily sit through it again and again as it's just fab.

3. Saving Private Ryan
I only watched this for the first time about a year back, it's a very violent and sad world war II film. A lot of people don't really rate this film, but I love it to bits. I had to watch it a few times to fully understand it, but it's one of Tom Hanks' best works, give it a try if you haven't seen it yet!

2. Forrest Gump
Another Tom Hanks gem, I've seen this film about thirty times, it never gets old. It's an incredible, unique story about a "retard" called Forrest Gump. The film takes you up and down an action packed, emotional, comedic roller coaster. Tom Hanks at his absolute best, an incredible film, which is all the way down at nineteen on the IMDB 250, should be a lot higher in my opinion.

1. The Green Mile
For some this may surprise a few as being my number one, but this film, I thought was flippin' fantastic. I only watched last year after borrying it from my uncle, but in my opinion it was the best film of all time. I'm going to be honest, it's the only film to ever make me cry, in fact I cried like a baby. If you want to watch it, make sure you're alone and focused and have a lot of time free, as it's a pretty long film (about three hours) but it's worth it, the story is just incredible.

So there you have it guys, my top ten films of all time!

See you soon!
